CBD oil is a top trend right now in the health, wellness and beauty industries. I’ve avoided jumping on the bandwagon so I haven’t invested in CBD-infused skincare, makeup and hair care products. But... I’m curious, so let’s take a look at CBD oil and the benefits of using it.

What is CBD oil?

Because I’m not a scientist, I think it’s best for me to find a formal definition to explain what this is. According to Healthline:

Cannabidiol is a popular natural remedy used for many common ailments. Better known as CBD, it is one of over 100 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant, Cannabis sativa.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. It’s gaining momentum in the health and wellness world, with some scientific studies confirming it may ease symptoms of ailments like chronic pain and anxiety.

CBD oil has a lot of benefits for health, wellness and beauty, which is why it’s now commonly found in many products.

Beauty benefits of CBD oil

CBD oil can boost your skin and hair in a number of ways:

  • CBD oil has anti-inflammatory properties so it can calm down acne-prone skin and reduce breakouts and blemishes.

  • CBD oil has antioxidants so it protects against wrinkles and fine lines, combats against free-radical damage and reduces the signs of ageing.

  • CBD oil heals common skin issues, including eczema, redness, dullness and uneven skin tone.

  • CBD oil soothes and nourishes sensitive skin.

  • CBD oil softens, moisturises and revitalises dry, dull and lifeless hair, and shields hair from damage.

  • CBD oil soothes a dry and flaky scalp.

  • CBD oil can help to improve hair growth.

CBD for sleep

Sleep is important for your overall physical health and mental wellbeing.

But did you know you could use CBD for sleep? You can find plenty of CBD sleep aids sold by many brands and retailers. I’m not a sleep expert (it’s best to go and see a doctor) but there are many solutions that could help you get a better night’s sleep, and apparently, CBD oil is one of them (though more scientific research still needs to be done on this.)

Here are some of the benefits of CBD oil for sleep:

  • CBD oil has a calming effect, which is useful if you have anxiety. Some people struggle to sleep because of anxiety and psychological issues, so CBD can help to wind down and nod off.

  • Chronic pain can have a detrimental impact on someone’s ability to sleep well. CBD oil relieves pain and sore muscles.

  • If you end up having a good night’s sleep because of CBD oil, then this means that you’ll be alert and productive during the day.

Have you ever used CBD oil?
