2020 + 2019 Beauty Favourites

Happy New Year!

I really don’t want to jump on the ‘New year, new me’ bandwagon but I will say that I am looking forward to this year and I’m curious to know what the next decade will bring. I’m ready for change.

Forever fabulous.

Forever fabulous.

I achieved some major goals in 2019. I moved out of London (but I still visit every so often.) I worked as a digital copywriter for a major fitness, leisure and wellness company (which was a huge career highlight for me and completely changed my mindset.) I started my current beauty blog after taking a blogging break. I started learning how to drive. I started practising how to play the keyboard. I started reading again. I walked as much as I could. I quit alcohol. I went to therapy.

I also achieved some huge goals in the past decade. I went to university and I graduated with a 2:1 in Politics and Sociology. I went freelance several months after graduating university, working as a freelance content writer and blogger on a number of projects in the beauty, lifestyle and fashion industries. I worked for NYX Professional Makeup as a brand ambassador. I worked as a freelance writer in my gap year, which explains why I ended up copywriting in the first place. I started blogging years ago. I met so many wonderful people through blogging and my career. I’ve been able to maintain special friendships.

To be honest, I’m sure I’ve done loads of stuff but I can’t remember them all right now. And even though I’ve achieved a lot, I have had a tumultuous year and a very turbulent decade that’s been full of so many lows and terrible moments. So it’s safe to say that I’m actually kind of glad to see the back of 2019 and the entire decade. It’s time for new beginnings and a fresh start.

Normally, I don’t look forward to a new year but I’m actually looking forward to 2020. I have so many goals, dreams and plans, and yes, I’m all about ‘New year, new me.’ I’m working hard to be the best version of myself. I’m going to focus on self-improvement, finding joy, practising gratitude, putting myself first, making happiness the center of my life choices, learning self-compassion and self-acceptance and building up my confidence and self-esteem.

So here’s to a new year and a new version of myself. Happy 2020!
