The solution to the problem of acne?

Since my final year of university four or five years ago, (mild) acne and pigmentation are issues that have become the bane of my life and I've been trying everything I can to prevent breakouts on my face.

One product I've used to deal with this is Glossier's Solution. I've been impressed with Glossier ever since it landed in the UK in 2017 and I was kind of keen to try out Solution anyway.

In order to use Solution, you need to apply it twice a day as part of your morning and evening skincare routines. After cleansing your face, apply Solution with cotton pads all over the face, leave in for a short while then apply your favourite moisturiser. According to Glossier, if you follow this regimen then you should see a difference after a few weeks.

In my opinion, I don't feel as though Solution worked for me. I'd read articles and blog posts about how effective it was but I didn't see much of a difference for myself. I still had breakouts and the acne keeps on coming back with a vengeance. Plus, I found that the solution stung my skin, so that didn't feel so good.

Ever since I stopped using Solution - I used it until it ran out - my skin has felt a little bit better because I stopped applying it to my face. It was just irritating my skin.

In the meantime, the actual solution to my acne continues. I must have been overdoing my skincare routine - my dermatologist said that I need to stop using so many cleansing products and to stick to washing my face with warm water. I've been prescribed a special type of cream to use on my face and my dermatologist recommended Cetaphil, which I will use alongside my prescription. Other options have been mentioned, including taking the Pill (which I'm not keen on) or Roaccutane (I'd have to have a think about this.)

When it comes to my skincare routine, I realised that I've been doing the most - and that's triggered dry and itchy rashes over my face - so it's time to strip it down, go back to basics and do what was best for my skin in the first place.
