My current beauty favourites (May 2023)

~ AD FEATURE ~

Hello! It’s been a while since I wrote about my current beauty favourites.

Now, if you know me well, you’ll understand that I am obsessed with beauty products. I’ve gradually cut down on the amount of money I spend on beauty products (because I need to save money and we’re in a cost of living crisis). Plus, I’m mindful of my consumption (because I think mindless consumerism of beauty products is problematic and unsustainable for the planet).

But I will always have a love in my heart for beauty and I have certain products that I like repurchasing and using over and over again.

Here are my current beauty favourites (May 2023).

My favourite purple lipstick: MAC Rebel

Purple lipstick is one of my go-to makeup products. The MAC Cosmetics Satin Lipstick in the shade Rebel is a product with a deep purple hue with a long-lasting, smooth-satin finish.

Best mascara: NARS Climax Mascara

To boost and expand my eyelashes and make them stand out, I’ve been using NARS’ Climax Mascara, which is a product that gives my lashes volume and ultimate smudge-resistance.

NYX Professional Makeup eyeliners

I like to give my eyes definition with eye makeup, and one of the items I use is the NYX Professional Makeup Vinyl Eyeliner. With its thin tip, it works well to glide over the waterline while creating a thin line for a bold/subtle look.

Luxury in a bottle: Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel

Using this foaming gel makes me feel like I’m having a spa in the shower and it smells so good with it’s sweet scent and floral notes! After a luxurious wash, I apply the Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Anti-Perspirant Spray under my arms.

A citrus scent: Clinique Happy

I was sent this product to test out. This is a fresh, citrus fragrance that will have you feeling bright and ready for Spring/Summer. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of citrus scents, but I do like this one.

The scent of the season: Fenty Beauty perfume

Months ago, I popped into Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge and tested the Fenty Beauty fragrance straight after its launch. I like it. It’s a warm floral scent with hints of Magnolia, musk and tangerine.

The only problem is its price (£115 for 75ml). I love Rihanna and I love how Fenty Beauty has changed the game in the beauty industry, but the price (especially in a cost of living crisis) is a bit steep for me. Maybe I’ll save up and by this for myself as a birthday or Christmas present.

I also tested the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum, a sweet, floral perfume that is perfect and exudes fun and elegance.

The best drugstore body oil for glowing skin: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Oil

I love this body oil. It’s smooth on my body, it smells good and it makes me glow. Most importantly, it moisturises and nourishes my skin.

I like to use this with a creamy body butter. I apply the Superdrug Vitamin E Body Butter or The Body Shop Shea Body Butter. Once the body butter has absorbed into my skin, I apply Palmer’s Coca Butter Formula Body Oil for the extra moisture and luminous shine. Best of all, the nourishing effect lasts the entire day, so my skin stays smooth and doesn’t dry out.

Hand cream on the go: Dr.PAWPAW Cocoa & Coconut Fragranced Handcream

I wash my hands a lot so they can get quite dry easily. On the go, I use the Dr.PAWPAW Cocoa & Coconut Fragranced Handcream to moisturise my hands, combat dryness and soften the skin. It definitely does what it says on the tin - so to speak!

Hyaluronic acid serum recommendation: Skin Proud Smooth Talk 2% Hyaluronic Acid Gel Serum

Hyaluronic acid revitalises the skin and increases skin elasticity. The Skin Proud Smooth Talk 2% Hyaluronic Acid Gel Serum is super-hydrating, locks in the skin’s moisture and leaves my face feeling very plump. I love it! Plus, it’s vegan and cruelty-free. I also recommend the Me+ Hyaluronic Booster, which you can purchase from Superdrug.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Stick Cocoa Butter SPF15

I need to keep my lip moisturised daily, and this drugstore lip balm does the job.

Evolve Organic Beauty Tropical Blossom Organic Body Butter

A body butter is one of my go-to bodycare essentials, and this is one of my favourites. It’s totally lush, super smooth, extremely rich and very creamy. The Evolve Organic Beauty Tropical Blossom Organic Body Butter absorbs into my skin to provide long-lasting moisture, softness and nourishment throughout the day - and it smells like bliss.

Black Girl Sunscreen

The weather in the UK is been up and down lately (sometimes sunny, sometimes gloomy) but no matter what, I can’t go a day without applying Black Girl Sunscreen. I wrote a review about this product, which you can read here.

Dove

I use Dove bodycare products on a regular basis to cleanse my body and wash my hands. I like the fact that their shower gels, body wash products and exfoliating scrubs are refreshing and revitalising, and they’re pretty affordable too!

Some of my favourite Dove products are:
