5 investments to make for the future

~ AD FEATURE ~

Did you know that there are many ways to invest in yourself?

As someone who’s been on a major transformational journey, I have come to realise the importance of investing in myself. I used to think, “I’m not an investor. I don’t invest,” but that’s not true. Technically, I am an investor because:

  • I have a pension that I pay into every month.

  • I have dabbled in investing in stocks and shares.

  • Over the years I’ve invested in boosting my skills.

  • I’ve invested time and money in therapy.

  • I invest in this website.

  • I’ve invested time, effort, energy and money in changing my circumstances and embarking on my current chapter, which is much more conducive to my wellbeing and in alignment with the life that I’m trying to build for myself.

The point is this: there are so many ways to invest in yourself and prepare for your future. Here are five investments to make for the future.

5 investments to make for the future

1. Invest in property

I must admit: sometimes I find it so irritating when people say, “Invest in real estate” over and over again. While I totally get why people say this, it’s not an option for many people right now. I’d love to buy my own property but I can’t afford to do that right now.

It’s still a worthwhile investment though, and it’s definitely something to consider for the future. There are many benefits to investing in property, including income generation and value appreciation. When investing in property, it’s important to complete a house valuation so that you can make the most of your investment and get an idea of your home’s value against the current market.

I’ve spoken previously about my desire to own my own home in the future. It’s something that’s been a lifelong dream and over time, I realise how important it is. Owning your own property is one of the best things you can do for your investment portfolio, and it’s a way to establish a stable home for yourself and your family.

2. Invest in your physical health

As the saying goes, “Health is wealth.” Take care of your body by being physically active, eating healthily, getting plenty of sleep every night, drinking plenty of water daily, avoiding smoking and reducing stress.

3. Invest in your mental health

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.  You can improve your mental health by going to therapy, journalling, practising gratitude, changing your circumstances, eating healthily, saying positive affirmations to yourself, exercising and doing esteemable things.

4. Invest in education, skills and training

Education doesn’t stop when you finish school or university. You have to keep learning for life and in your career, you will be required to learn new skills and attend training courses. You can invest in your education and gain new skills by reading, attending courses and educating yourself through online content. Investing in your education and skills will take time but it doesn’t have to cost so much money.

5. Invest in travel

I am looking forward to travelling in the future! Travelling is a great way to gain new and valuable experiences, discover another culture and broaden your horizons - plus, it’s a lot of fun too! The world is a big place and there are so many places you can go to. Also, you don’t have to travel too far - you can explore different areas in your country and have a staycation.
