5 Blusher Tips For Makeup Beginners

1. Don’t overdo it

When I started wearing blusher I used to put too much, which was not a good look! Sometimes less is more. If you accidentally put too much on, you can blot with a tissue or with a beauty blender.

2. Find the right blush for your skin tone

Different shades of blush suit different skin tones. For darker skin tones, I recommend deep pink or purple hues. For pale skin, I recommend light pink and rosy hues.

3. Figure out the right application technique

This depends on your facial shape and the shape of your brush. Blush affects the way your bone structure looks (so check out this helpful guide) and the type of brush or applicator you use (such as a fan brush, blush brush or beauty blender) can affect how much you put on and how it looks on your face.

4. Blot your blush with a tissue

To make your blush stand out, blot your cheeks with a tissue, instead of applying translucent powder, which can give your skin a bit of a dull look.

5. Select the right formula

Blush products come in a variety of different textures. I prefer to use powder blush (which is suitable for those with large pores), but there are other types. Stick blushes add a hint of natural colour. Cream and liquid blushes deliver a dewy finish and gel blushes add a bit of a glow to the cheeks.
